What is the Taurus series?
The Novastar Taurus series (TB models) are asynchronous media players: they store content directly on the device and play it back independently – even without a connected PC. Ideal for advertising spaces, shop windows, digital signage, and info displays.

In detail: synchronous vs. asynchronous
Asynchronous means: the player is a small computer that stores content and plays it back itself – a PC or internet connection is only needed for loading content, not for continuous operation. Synchronous (e.g. via the VX series/NovaLCT), by contrast, means live output directly from the source device. For self-running advertising/info content, Taurus is the right choice.

In detail: Wi-Fi modes (AP & STA) and 4G
AP mode: the player creates its own Wi-Fi network – you connect the PC directly to it (ideal for initial setup). STA mode: the player joins your existing Wi-Fi, so PC/smartphone and player are on the same network. With optional 4G (model-dependent), the player can also be managed remotely without a local network – practical for locations without an internet connection.

In detail: Connection & passwords
Connection via Wi-Fi, LAN cable, or USB – without one of these, the software will not find the player. Device password usually admin / 123456 or the combination from the sticker on the device (format such as SN2008@+); this is usually also the Wi-Fi password but may differ in individual cases. For permanently installed systems, change the default password for security reasons.

In detail: USB playback & automatic brightness
USB playback: export a solution to a USB stick in ViPlex, insert the stick into the player – the content is imported or played. Practical when no network is available.
Automatic brightness: with a connected light sensor, the player adapts the brightness to the ambient light (brighter in sunshine, darker at night) – protecting the modules and saving electricity. Alternatively via a fixed schedule.

Common pitfalls
- Player not found? Check the connection (Wi-Fi “AP…” / LAN / USB).
- Wrong password? Sticker on the device – often identical as Wi-Fi and login password.
- Schedule not working? Synchronise the player’s date, time, and time zone with the PC.
- Content blurry? The resolution of the solution must match the pixel size of the wall.
